PITCHING RULES (Minor, Major, Junior and Senior Divisions):
Little League has instituted a new rule and changed the way pitching will be monitored during the season. Previously, pitchers were limited to six innings per week with a predetermined number of days of rest required depending on the number of innings pitched. Pitchers will now have a maximum pitch limit per game with a certain number of days rest required depending on how many of pitches are thrown in a game.
Pitching limits per day are as follows:League Age Max. # of Pitches
10 &Under 75
11-12 85
13-16 95
One exception to the maximum number of pitches rule: If the pitcher reaches the maximum number of pitches during an at-bat, the pitcher may continue to pitch to that batter until the batter reaches base or is put out.
The following days rest are required for pitchers based on the number of pitches thrown:
1-20 pitches: No calendar days rest required.
21-40 pitches: One (1) calendar day of rest is required.
41-60 pitches: Two (2) calendar days of rest are required.
61 or more: Three (3) calendar days rest are required.
A pitcher may not pitch in consecutive games games, no matter what the time is between games. Exception: A player may pitch in consecutive games if no more than 40 pitches are delivered in the previous game.
A pitcher that delivers 1 or more pitches in a game my cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of the day.
This rule change will require that the scorekeeper keep track of every pitch thrown during a game. Managers & coaches should also keep track and confirm the number of pitches thrown after each half-inning with the scorekeeper.
WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO A GREAT SEASON. PLEASE LET US
KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
